We started this Substack because we believe data centers bring huge benefits to our economy and our communities.
The towns, cities, and counties that have said yes to data centers are cutting tax rates, opening new schools, and putting people back to work. We’re here to keep score of those Data Center Wins.
And we know we’re in a global race. Countries around the world are rushing to build data centers because they will help determine their security, sovereignty, and prosperity for the next century. The data center race is one we cannot afford to lose.
We also started this Substack because we know we have some convincing to do. A Gallup poll earlier this year found that 7 in 10 Americans oppose building an AI data center in their area. We get it. When a new building is proposed on the edge of town, folks have questions. Criticism has sprung up far and fast (some of it coming from outside America).
But across the country, we’ve seen data centers bring jobs - good jobs, with salaries that can support a thriving middle-class family. We’ve seen data centers lower tax bills for seniors. We’ve seen them pay for new schools and hospitals and firehouses. We’ve seen how teachers can be paid more, kids can have better libraries, and the cost of living can get cheaper. When data centers are built right, everyone wins.
We’re tracking the benefits that good data centers bring to their neighbors, and we’re sharing that good news here.
If you disagree, we want to hear from you! We love a good debate, and this issue is far too important to our future not to talk about.
